Post-Acne Scarring Skincare Routine

Post-Acne Scarring Skincare Routine

The Skin Change

After some yummy changes to my diet during the holidays (insert eye-roll emoji) and then another healthier change after (thumbs up emoji) my skin has been acting up & breaking out for the vast majority of January. The breakouts were not severe but very consistent.

Thankfully, at this point I finally managed to calm down the inflammation, however now I have a new problem on my hands - post acne scarring! To combat this pesky hyperpigmentation, I’ve adjusted my night-time skincare routine to specifically address this concern. I introduced products that will gently exfoliate and brighten my skin as well as keep it nourished & balanced which is a must when dealing with reactive skin! 🍓

I’ve decided to share my updated skincare regiment with you today in case you like me are struggling with some new post-acne scarring or hyperpigmentation in general! Learn about the full routine below:

The Routine

Step 1:

💫 Malie Organics Cleansing Polish to GENTLY exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and any post-acne flaking.

Why it Works:

Formulated with an exfoliating blend of skin firming Hibiscus Flowers, Olive Seed Powder and vitamin-packed Cranberry Seeds, this cleanser naturally and gently exfoliates dull, dry skin to reveal a fresh bright appearance. Plant Derived Amino Acids help to increase moisture content and assist in the production of collagen and elastin.

Step 2:

💫 Maya Chia The Optimist Essence to hydrate & brighten and supercharge the complexion.

Why it Works:

The Optimist helps to augment the skin’s natural hydration levels and brightness with a proprietary blend of antioxidants, amino acids, polysaccharides, phytonutrients, and fatty acids, such as sake, white tea, chia seed, astaxanthin, and licorice extracts for radiant, nourished, glowing skin.

Step 3:

💫 Osea Advanced Protection Cream mixed in with Wabi Sabi Botanicals Light Reveal to protect & restore as well as reverse free radical damage (#1 cause of hyperpigmentation)

Why it Works:

The Advanced Protection Cream is a rich moisturizer loaded with natural, complexion-fortifying ingredients that increase the appearance of youthful firmness. DPHP, an amino acid compound helps diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation and visibly reduces the appearance of fine and lines.

The Light Reveal Serum is a high-performance serum is infused with Amazonian Guarana Berries, the highest known natural source of caffeine in the world, and packed with naturally-occurring active phytonutrients that brighten and lighten with each use. Made without essential oils, this potent formula works even on sensitive skin like mine.

Pictured here you can also see the Odacite Aventurine Lip Serum that has nothing to do with the scarring routine, but it’s my latest skincare addition that I love using as part of my night time routine👌

The Result

✨This seemingly simple routine has been delivering great results thus far and my skin feels happy again! I’m noticing that it’s plump, brightened and balanced in the mornings and not at all irritated! (Exfoliation is always hard on my sensitive skin) In my experience, with post acne scarring you have to absolutely give your skin time to heal and just make sure to supplement the process with appropriate products!

It is not a quick affair, so just try to be patient with your skin and let the restorative process happen ✨

While my skin is healing, my favorite products to cover discoloration are the Hynt Beauty & Han Skincare concealers! Both are non-comedogenic & full coverage 👍 Let me know your thoughts on this routine in the comments down below! Also, what is the nr. 1 skin concern you’re currently dealing with? Have you found products that help you manage in? Let me know!🐝
