June Beauty Favorites
Who else cannot believe June is over? 🙋🏻♀️ With moving and everything that comes with it, the month of June just totally flew by! This past month ( at least the second half of it) I didn’t play as much with makeup and stuck to a very simple routine that consisted of few products! (everything else was packed away lol) Let's start with favorite category - skincare!
I was in and out of the sun quite a bit so it was very important that I have good sun protection on. I've talked about this a number of times, but I love layering Vitamin C Serum under an SPF cream as it been shown to protect one's skin from UV damage by neutralizing free radicals and therefore enhancing the performance of your SPF product. You can read more about it in my Summer Morning Routine HERE
Jordan Samuel's Retinol Treatment is a product I've been eyeing for quite some time now. This past winter I've tried laser treatment for my rosacea and when that didn't work, my dermatologist suggested giving retinol a try. Even though the topic of retinol use is quite controversial in general, it is even more so when it comes to the use of retinol for rosacea. Retinol or Vit A has been proven to boost collagen production (reducing wrinkles and preventing fine lines), speed cell turnover (evening out discoloration and brightening skin tone) and unclog pores (making them look smaller and reducing acne) The cell turnover part is what is supposed to help with rosacea and I will definitely update you on that soon. At this point, however, what I can say is - my skin feels wonderful when using this product. It is extremely gentle, as the retinol in this product is basically coated with amazing oils! (Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, Marula Oil etc.) I didn't have to ease into it and didn't experience any dryness. My skin is the softest it's ever been and my post-acne discoloration is fading way faster than usual. I've been absolutely loving this treatment oil and I cannot wait to see what result it bring in a couple of months!
I haven't been wearing much make-up BUT I've been loving painting my nails this past month! I had to cut my nails very short because they were breaking from the all packing, unpacking and moving in general and so they did not look too great unpainted lol! I've been especially loving the Habit Cosmetics 42 Cavalier as it's very opaque, it dries fast and stays on well. I can easily get away with one coat and have fun colored nails for days! This is a natural oil-based nail polish remover I've been using for over a year now. It does take a bit of getting used to as the process is different from conventional nail polish removers. I found that it works the best if you apply it with a cotton round to your painted nails give it a few seconds to start working and then use the cotton round to remove it as you would normally do. It removes every nail polish I own and my nails feel great after! Would absolutely recommend getting one!
My make-up for the past two weeks consisted of very few basic products. I've talked about why I love the Au Natural Zero Gravity foundation on my Clean Beauty Swaps Page HERE Give it a read! I found that my favorite way to apply and blend it is with the Beauty and The Base Brush by MOTD Cosmetics. It's a very dense foundation brush so it works great with any foundation, whether it's cream or powder!
Easily my favorite clean mascara! The Maracuja Mascara is an all-natural, smudge proof mascara that lengthens, separates and conditions lashes for a beautiful everyday look. It wears well throughout the day and has a very impressive ingredient list. Plus I LOVE that it smells like chocolate!
