Sensitive Skincare Guide: Rosacea
It's true that when dealing with rosacea, you’re dealing with a complex issue that requires a wholesome approach. You have to take into consideration your diet and lifestyle and also know your skin’s triggers for flare-ups. However, adjusting your lifestyle based on your skin reactions can be frustrating and not always possible and that is why it is extremely important to create a skincare regime that will help calm, relieve and support your skin.
I've personally struggled with rosacea since a very young age and found that nothing elevates my condition as well as proper skincare routine does.
In my experience, switching to beauty products that have clean, non-inflammatory ingredients can bring drastic and almost immediate relief to the skin. And that is why I wanted to create a Green Beauty Guide to Rosacea with my current and long-time skincare favorites.
Choosing a mild, rosacea-friendly cleanser is a first step in creating an efficient yet gentle skincare routine. The Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser was formulated with sensitive and gentle skin in mind. It lifts impurities and makeup from your skin without harsh chemicals or alcohols. Leaving your skin perfectly cleansed and balanced. I have been using this cleanser with the delicate face cloth it comes with and I must say - together, they are certainly a cleansing power duo for reactive skin.
The Odacite Ap+P Fragile Capillaries is a total powerhouse when it comes to rosacea-aimed skincare. Formulated with Palmarosa oil, it helps diminish the appearance of broken capillaries as well as provide sensitive skin with moisturizing properties. Another key ingredient is Apricot Oil, a miracle worker that has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine to treat inflammatory skin disorders. It helps improve microcirculation and strengthening capillary walls as well as supercharge your skin with vitamins and minerals. Overall, this soothing and strengthening serum is a must-have item in my ski-care routine.
The Josh Roebrook Advanced Hydration Mask is an innovative treatment designed to help replenish and retain skin cell hydration. Formulated with aloe vera, rich plant oils, and botanical hyaluronic acid it helps lock in moisture, regenerate and protect the skin barrier. It provides amazing hydration (feels like your skin just took a big sip of fresh spring water) and helps balance out even the most inflamed skin. On top of nourishing properties, it improves skin circulation by protecting and supporting healthy dermal function which is vital for skin that is affected by rosacea. This is my go-to product when I need to elevate my skin in a manner of minutes.
The number one rule in dealing with rosacea is - stay out of the sun. A proper, year-round sun protection is particularly recommended for people suffering from rosacea and rosacea flare-ups. It is recommended to use a broad spectrum SPF with at least 10% zinc-oxide on the ingredient list. Zinc-oxide not only protects the skin and the fragile capillaries from the damaging UV rays but also is beneficial for skin conditions like rosacea and acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties. My pick is Suntegrity 5 in 1 Face Sunscreen. It provides excellent sun protection and is supercharged with youth promoting antioxidants that help fight free radicals. The sheer tint works great to even out the skin-tone and can be worn as a makeup primer or on its own. A perfect skin treat for the summer!
