Clean Beauty Wedding MakeUp
I was inspired to create this look by Meghan Markle aka Duchess of Sussex 👑, who worn the most stunning makeup look on her wedding day! I loved the dewy skin,(with her freckles peeking through 💗) the satin pink lip and a daytime smoky eye. No harsh conturing, no fake eyelashes, the look was so simple and SO stunning! Her decision on keeping her makeup on the natural side prompted a conversation about instagram makeup trends and how even though those can be fun, a natural look will always remain beautiful, classy and timeless. This is why I decided to re-create Meghan’s wedding look and I must say - I LOVED the end result!
For this wedding makeup look, Meghan went for a daily smokey eye. So let's get smokin'!
The first thing we want to do is use an eye primer. This will help to get most pigment out the eyeliner and eyeshadow plus will help it stay in place throughout the day. Then we want to create a base to help us with the blending of the darker shades later on. As a base, I used a light touch or Root Pretty eyeshadow in Tan Rose all over the lid and crease. Next, I applied 100% Pure eyeliner to my waterline on the top lid and waited a few second for it to set, then I used the same eye liner close to my eyelashes and used a brush to smudge it out. Repeat this step twice to get a good dark base. Next up, I applied Au Naturale's Vintage eyeshadow to make this smokey eye more of the grey undertone rather than black. Additionally, you can use a little bit more of the Tan Rose eyeshadow just to warm up the edges and make sure everything is blended nicely. Lastly, we apply mascara. Meghan had beautiful, fluffy eyelashes. So give it a coat or two to get that effect! And like that your daily smokey eye is ready.
For the face makeup, I had to adjust the look to my skin type. As I have extensive rosacea on my cheeks, I used a full coverage foundation. Meghan's look was definitely more on the sheer side so of course if you feel comfortable with light coverage - do that. I loved that Meghan's freckles were showing through and even though I have freckles too, they don't really show under the foundation. That's why I drew them back on after my face makeup was done. I used Root Pretty eyeshadow in Coco and a detailing brush and was very happy with the result. It looked very natural and cute! I think if you like me, use a full coverage foundation, definitely give this trick a try as I found it helps your complexion look more natural and effortless!
